Idleways is on the northeast riverbank of the Upper Thurne which leads upstream to Martham Broad and Somerton Staithe and, via Kendal Dyke, to the famous sailing sites of Hicking Broad and Horsey Mere.
We enjoy a remote location, with only one near neighbour, are well away from the busier holiday centre at Potter Heigham, and so far away from any roadways that not a car can be heard.
Reaching Idleways requires a fifteen-minute walk along the northeast riverbank from Potter Heigham, as there is no road access, but the cottage is best accessed by river. Take a five-minute river taxi from Potter Heigham, ring 07990 584160, or we recommend you hire a small craft during your stay to enable you to explore and make the most of the Norfolk Broads National Park.
Craft can be hired either at Martham or Potter Heigham, where you can also leave your car. Follow the links below to some local craft hire companies. We would recommend you make arrangements at the time of booking the cottage.
